About Peninsula Hardwood Mulch

Peninsula Hardwood Mulch was founded by Larry and Anna Wilson in September of 1988. 1996 became a very busy year for Peninsula Hardwood Mulch. The company phased out of the tree care and lawn care businesses. The Wilson's had realized that their passion was mulch, topsoil, and plants to say the least. During this year the company added another establishment to the already expanding Yorktown location. The company formally known as Sheldon Lumber was purchased so that the company could begin processing it's own mulch material.


Over the years Peninsula Hardwood Mulch has added many new products to our already existing materials. These products include stone pavers, edgers, bulk stone products, and colorized mulches that we produce in Toano. We have also added equipment and container rental. We have found that this helps to make us your one stop shop for all your landscaping needs. We have also settled at around 25 employees to help make your experience at Peninsula Hardwood Mulch more personable.
